An e-mail I just received from Voyager Info-Systems
VoyForums Site StatusDear Admins and Visitors,
This is a courtesy letter to those of you who were in communication with us regarding the downtime.
It is most likely you already know we are up as of Wednesday. You might also like to know that many visitors are posting in their regular boards, saying, "what are you talking about? It's been up all this time." Some people were able to still get to the site. Such is the nature of the voluntary-subscribing to the the blacklisted network entries, in this case, of spamhaus.org -- not all network routes (avenues through the internet to our systems) chose to block our upstream provider's network, so many people could still use the site as normal.
To migrate to the new servers, we had to use a version of our software that was in testing. This means there will be some glitches here and there (like the login issues) that we'll have to iron out as the days and weeks pass. There are some new security features in the new version, as well as some new member features that we might make available soon. The security features are internal system issues, like elevated encryption methods and increased usage of
https:// -- so there's nothing for admins or users to change.
We are deeply sorry for such a prolonged downtime. In our 22 years of being in business, and the 18 years that VoyForums has been running, we've never experienced nor imagined a series of events that would lead to us being down for so long. We thank you for your patience and contacting us and hope things return to a normal smooth state for all of you, and please do let us know if you or your posters encounter problems.
Best regards,
VoyForums Support
