| Apparently he is a new member of the team. Walk on? Scholarship? Who knows. Hes been in team members pics on instagram and Larkin posted about welcoming him as a new teammate. Pretty outrageous that this happens and there isn't one word from the athletics department | |

| And to make it all even worse, Pow is yet one more guard, because we didn't have quite enough of those. | |

| Looks like he's a scholarship player. PE.com just released the article about him and Kierell green. Yet another under 6ft guard...im not even suprised anymore. Its crazy. He didnt even play last year. Unacceptable | |

| Happy for the young man. He obtained his dream. However, an a announcement on 7/25 of two scholarship players for next years team is very worrisome. | |

| I agree! It's going to be a long year
I wonder of caseys recruiting method is now to take questionable players and basically say "come here, play for a year, and use it as an audition for something else"
I bet if you did look back youd see players signed closet to start of new season are the first to leave/ transfer

Good lord, Pow's on scholarship. Is that how toxic Niagara has become? When Casey first became head coach in spring 2013 I thought he did an outstanding job of restocking the entire roster at the last second. Guys like Dominique Reid, Ramone Snowden, Wes Myers and Nick Smiley were all steals under the circumstances. I thought "Holy crap! If Casey can land that kind of talent on the fly, watch out once he gets his feet on the ground and settled in!" Yeah, right. Not only has the level of talent he's signing dropped off the table, he can't even keep the bums he signs on campus!

| Come on , with a full DII coaching staff is it surprising to see the level of recruits being signed ? They can spin it anyway they want , plain and simple we're littered with DII talent . That's all Casey and his staff have known , being in DI has done nothing to change that DII mind set . Recruiting is all about contacts , unfortunately their only contacts are of a DII nature .
I don't know how you guys feel about it , but I strongly resent the reckless issuance of scholarships by this current clown staff . It's nothing more than throwing $40,000 down the toilet . We're signing jokers that would be hard pressed to get minutes at NCCC .

| Casey is under no restraints. He can do as he pleases. I have also aluded in the past to the waste of not only scholarship money, but also the waste of coaching staff salaries. Its very strange how a normally frugal Niagara can waste so much money on such little return. When you think about it, its actually perplexing. Its almost as if the admin has a plan that's gonna ultimately lead to Division 2 or 3. I think that may actually be the case as more media and fan pressure exerts its toll on the admin., not to its surprise, but to the D-2 or D-3 outcome it really wants for the basketball and hockey programs. | |

| nu in now way operates like a d1 enterprise. From the facilities. The media engagement. The records on field of play. The coaches they have.
They are d1 in name only.

| That's the question? I believe JAM & Burky will be the last legitimate D-1 coaches Niagara ever hires.
I believe Niagara will remain D-1 (in name only) until any benefits from membership in the MAAC and the AHL pushes the school from that level of competition. In other words, if Niagara doesn't maintain at least what it has now with those conferences, it will move to the cheaper brands, i.e., D-2 or D-3. I don't believe the MAAC or AHL will push NU out solely due to lack of competitiveness, because I'm sure that the upper echelon programs like Iona (hoops) and Quinnipiac (pucks) will want to have as many cupcakes as possible to ensure their success.

| I could stomach Niagara doing something like Loyola did and joining the Patriot league. It would leave a stench in my nostrils, but I could at least still follow the teams....a move to DII would be the end of me and Niagara basketball. | |

| Hopefully Pow works out, I wish him nothing but the best.
It is a bit confusing that NU had no interest in the 6'5" Latvian guard who plays in the Latvian Youth Basketball League (1st division) for team Ridzene averaging 18.8 points, 1.3 blocks, 9.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game...the kid can play and that is from coaches from much better programs than NU. He is going to Lee Academy in Maine for prep school (the bigger schools didn't have scholies to offer at this time) and the coaches are already making contact and plans to see him play in Maine....in addition, two other Latvians are coming with him, and one a big....NU could have established an interesting pipeline....and not even an email back from NU.

It's very strange that NU wouldn't follow up on a potential recruit . It's not as if they're signing blue chip recruits , most had no other offers to speak of . Casey is an insecure small timer , he sees your efforts as threats rather than assistance . I too have a tremendous resource in Southern California , but there is no way I can steer players to NU under the current regime . Poor coaching along with tremendous program instability is not something I could recommend in good consciousness .

Poor coaching along with tremendous program instability is not something I could recommend in good consciousness . I think it comes down to a matter of ego. Most DI head coaches can't stand the idea of a common " fan" trying to tell them who they should recruit. And Casey doesn't even have the courtesy to thank a devoted fan for his efforts...."small timer" indeed.

| Casey reminds me of this guy I use to bartend w at at a bar at NU.
He thought he was so smart. And that his drinks were so good and so cutting edge. No one was smarter and if you didn't understand, you were an idiot
Eventually this guy would be serving less and less folks every night.
The thing was his drinks were terrible. He had no personality. And he was in way over his head.
People saw right through the shit

| Guards, guards, guards . . . that's all we have. We have some small forwards and a couple of guys who barely qualify as power forwards, and than there is Tew (please give me a break). Tew will foul out in less than half of a half with 0-2 points and 1-3 boards. At best, if we had one quality center/5 position player, at least Tew could eat up 7 or 8 minutes as a foul eater to spell the quality guy. As an amateur, I once played on a team with a frontline of 6-7, 6-6, and 6-5. They were very talented kids. I'm not gonna say they were as good as what NU can put on the floor right now, but they certainly would match up with them, as a frontline. | |

| The size of the team. The lack of 3pt shooting Is going to lead to a terrible team.
We will not be able to generate many points from foul line.
We will not score many points. Our offense efficiency was terrible last year. It will be worse this year
When we are sitting at the end of the year wondering how we only have 7 wins again..: it's all predictive
I guess Casey doesn't believe in predictive analytics

| Niagara's only hope is that half the team has break-out seasons...you know, Tew suddenly looks like Bill Russell, Kahlil Dukes plays like the second coming of Calvin Murphy, and Maurice Taylor becomes an Adrian Dantley clone. Barring that, Chris Casey and his Purple Eagles are doomed for a 4th straight losing season. | |
